Miroslava Mikheeva-Duma is my latest girl crush. For those of you that might not be aware of her, she is a well known editor from Moscow whose work started at Harper’s Bazaar Russia and is now a contributor to L’Officiel Russia, Glamour Russia, the style section at Russian OK Magazine, and Tatler Magazine Russia. When I first saw her pictures on the Sartorialist, she instantly reminded me of Rachel Bilson: tiny, sweet and too adorable. Her fashion sense is finely tuned. She does wear designer from head to toe but it always has a personal touch. And I never get the impression that she takes herself or her clothes too seriously. To me that’s really cute.
There was a time when Russian style equated with tacky, but it is not the case anymore. There is a new generation of stylish Russian women like Miroslava and Dasha (new editor-in-chief at Pop Magazine) who dress to express their personalities rather than showing how much money they have. They can be occasionally flamboyant but no more than a Carine Roitfelt can be. I’d love to see more Russia fashionistas as I find their style very unique and fascinating.
