The MET Gala is one of my fashion favourite events. Yet, B-List is what describes the whole feeling of this year’s event. There are some knockouts and certainly many fails on the red capet. The missing of big-name designers like Karl Lagerfeld, Azzedine Alaia, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana is very upsetting. For an event meant to celebrate the model as muse, there seems like a strong lack of big designer/ model pairings. And I don’t know if this is because of the credit crunch, but this year some of the guests were rather B-list too. Anyway, here are a few looks that I like.
My top 3 looks of the night are:
Diane Kruger in Chanel Haute Couture S/S 09: You just can’t beat class.
Liv Tyler in Stella McCartney: Amazing dress with great cut and colour. A nod to pure Old Hollywood glamour.
Kate Bosworth in Stella McCartney F/W 09: Flawless and exceptional. Very Jean Harlow, silver screen Hollywood siren va-va-voom.
And some other amazing looks:
Jessica Stam in Rodarte F/W 08: Youthful yet stunning.
Iman in Donna Karan Resort 09: Iman needs to give lessons to women on how to age gracefully. Madonna should be required to attend.
Carmen Dell’Orefice: The oldest and the chicest
