Sorry for the slow updates recently, I guess I’m having a little “writer’s block” moment. I hope these new Olivia candids from the set of ‘The City’ will soon unblock my mind.
I Love Love this outfit!! It’s total preppy chic! The whole bow look with the white shirt does risk in looking cliché, but Olivia manages to make it so chic and feminine. As usual she outshines Whitney (To be honest when I watch ‘The City’, I always gawk at how amazing Olivia looks. But when Whitney’s on, I just notice the annoying way she talks, not her outfit.)
Just in case you ever wonder, the white cardigan worn by Olivia is from Topshop (Surprised? Me too. I first thought it’s Chanel) and is still available to buy online.

Christian Lacroix’s Haute Couture F/W 09 collection, once again, demonstrated that he is a true couture-artist! Even with all the constraints he obviously had when making it, the collection is still magnificent. It’s wearable, which is a good thing, yet every piece still contains the essence of what he represents as a designer. Many of these pieces in my opinion are masterpieces, more subtle than his usual works, but masterpieces nonetheless. I guess people who usually just found CL as too much and over the top can see his beautiful ornamental elements in a more subdued version and appreciate the beauty. The entire collection just says that Christian Lacroix Can Not End! I do hope this isn’t the end since he still has a lot to offer to fashion.

Giovanna Battaglia, an ex-model and currently fashion editor at L’UOMO Vogue, is my new style crush. In fact, I’ve liked her ever since Vogue featured her for the 20’s segment of one of their age issues many years back. I remember she told this story about how she only wears really short skirts and how she once had a Dolce & Gabbana mini skirt that came with matching gold panties. All her boyfriends hated it. “So many fights with so many boyfriends” she sighed. Her style has matured ever since and she has imposed herself as a one of the most inspirational style figures of her generation.
Each of Giovanna’s appearances at the fashion shows is a lesson in class, and is witness to her passion without restraint for fashion. I think she has an underlying understated elegance and innovation in her looks. She always mixes it up and is never afraid to put on pieces that are quite over the top, be it yellow pants or a fur coat. Elegance seems to tie all her outfits together. I envy her ability to look so chic all the time. She stands out among a sea of black, but not in a staged, flamboyant “look at me!” way. She always looks relaxed. Her style is the epitome of effortlessness, yet impeccable.

Yes, they are back! Gossip Girl has officially started filming episodes for the third season, which debuts September 14. I just can’t wait for the drama and the headbands. Oh did I mention I love Blair’s flowery dress in the pictures?

French Vogue editor-in-chief Carine Roitfeld and daughter Julia Restoin-Roitfeld were both seen in this balck scalloped sweater from British designer Christopher Kane F/ W 08 collection. They styled the sweater differently nevertheless both looked great. Carine paired it with a simple black skirt and went bare legged while Julia worn it with leather shorts and black tights. I can’t help but wonder when was the last time (or whenever) my mum and I shared clothes. Would you wear your mum’s clothes or lend her yours?

I know I have an obsession with socialites’ style but, in my humble opinion, Daphne Guinness is one of the coolest and best dressed women on the planet. Daughter of the Guinness brewery heir and ex-wife of Greek shipping tycoon Spyros Niarchos, her pedigree is as haute couture as her clothing and no one wears couture like Guinness. Perhaps she is the only woman whose capacity for unfettered fantasy marches – or even exceeds – that of the designers she adores. Yet, she keeps her look surprisingly simple: she only wears black and white clothes, which match her black and blond tresses and has never been seen without her custom Christian Louboutin platform wedges. At an interview with Vogue, she remarked that she’s always preferred to inhabit clothes rather than wear them. Daphne’s rarefied sense of style has earned her reputation as the fashion person’s fashion person and a dream client for many designers.
And come September we’ll be able to own just a little piece of her when her first fragrance, named Daphne, with Comme des Garçons Parfum, is launched. The smell is inspired by her past and will cost $140. This is her second collaboration with Comme des Garçons, as she previously designed a collection of white shirts for the brand to be sold at Dover Street Market. When the likes of Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian have their own fragrances, it’s so refreshing to see a true style icon, with a very signature presence, creating her own scent.

Leighton Meester loves to take risks when comes to red carpet dressing. Sometimes, it doesn’t pay off (remember the Met Gala disaster), but when it does she really stands out from the rest. At the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, She wore an edgy cut-out Emilio De La Morena dress with Brian Atwood Brie purple suede ankle boots. With its sheer panels, folds, and cut-outs, this dress is not something Blair Waldorf would approve of. Yet, Leighton totally pulls it off. I just love how futuristic and sexy this comes off rather than trashy. And just wow, she has an amazing butt.
